Yelim Özdinç

Yelim Özdinç was born in 1977, and from the moment she stepped into the fascinating world of art, she decided to dive into handmade craft and traditional wood carving art and keep this rare tradition alive. Yelim, who was introduced to art with the encouragement of her family during her college education, was also interested in theater and music in addition to his professional ballet career. As an English Business Administration graduate, she gained many years of experience in the business world, but the artistic spirit within her never faded.

Her art journey continued  even more colorful with the long-term training in drawing and oil painting lessons she received from calligraphy artist Osman Yılmazer. In 2018, she started making sculptures with artist Sevgi Karay and explored different aspects of art. Working with award-winning designer Deniz Coşkun, she developed her ability to create designs and installations with different materials.

Her encounter with wood during her sculpture education was a turning point for her. She learned the hand carving techniques of wood carving under the Cultural Heritage Ambassador, Craftsman Galip Ağırkaya. Continuing her works in Istanbul, Yelim presents her artworks to art lovers in national and international exhibitions, using the ancestral hand carving technique in modern forms. She is also determined to pass on this unique craft to new generations by organizing workshops both in abroad and Turkey.
